Latest: Android 1.7.1 7 November 2026 Extension 4.1.1

Every release, newest first, with what it fixes and what you will notice. The extension ships through Microsoft Edge Add-ons and Firefox Add-ons; Android builds arrive as a new APK on the download page. This page records what shipped, not what is planned.

Android 1.7.1

Latest · Android
7 November 2026 versionCode 15 APK · about 74 MB

Audio that opens where you expect: MP4/M4A is the default, and WebM is still available.

  • MP4/M4A first. The Audio tab now puts an MP4/M4A row ahead of a higher-bitrate WebM/Opus row. A 128 kbps M4A becomes the default over a 160 kbps WebM, so Android music and gallery apps get the broadly supported audio/mp4 type instead of showing an unsupported-MIME error.
  • WebM stays. Every WebM row remains selectable, and WebM is still the automatic pick when an audio source has no MP4/M4A row.
  • The original voice still wins. The uploader's original-language track stays ahead of a dub; the container preference only decides between tracks of the same language status.

Android 1.7.0

The 2026 identity, in motion: a new mascot, wordmark and launcher icon, and a launch animation that belongs to them.

  • A new face. A white mascot with mint eyes and a green download orb replaces the old mark. The launcher icon is an adaptive icon with a themed-icon layer, and the mascot and wordmark are drawn as vectors so they stay sharp at every size.
  • A launch, not a loading screen. The platform splash shows the mascot, then the wordmark slides out from behind it, the tagline rises, and the app fades in. The whole sequence is skipped when the system's animation scale is off.
  • One motion scale. Screen changes, list insertions, the share card and the progress bubble now share the same durations and easing, so navigation feels like one system rather than four.
  • A smoother bubble. The floating overlay eases its ring towards each reported percentage and draws its completion check with a short overshoot instead of snapping.

Extension 4.1.1

Edge + Firefox

Hopper is officially on Firefox. The same release also gives the video reader its scanning-frame loader.

  • Firefox Add-ons. Hopper is live at Firefox Add-ons for Firefox 142 and newer. The Firefox package uses an event-page background and the same local converter, permissions, and no-account model as Edge.
  • A scan, not a frog. While Hopper reads a video's formats, the old frog loader is gone. A small video frame now sweeps with a scan beam and progress line, matching the work it represents.
  • One version, two stores. Edge Add-ons and Firefox Add-ons both carry extension 4.1.1. Each browser updates its own install; the desktop setup window opens the matching listing.

Extension 4.0.0

Edge Add-ons
3 November 2026 Microsoft Edge Add-ons Free

The release where Hopper introduces itself, stops running on your pages, and turns black and green.

  • No more page scripts. The scripting permission and the page scanner are gone. Hopper now asks for activeTab, downloads and storage only, and it never runs inside, reads, or changes the pages you visit.
  • A proper introduction. First run opens on a short welcome card — save a video, work on a file, paste a link — so the app explains itself before asking for anything.
  • Black and green. One dark palette across the popup, with the mark, progress and selection in green. No theme toggle, no second look.
  • Friendlier throughout. Plain-language hints, a calmer video card, a clearer clip list, and a Link tab that explains what a direct link is and when it will not work.

Android 1.5.0

The update that makes TikTok sound match its picture, adds Instagram, and tells you when a new APK is waiting.

  • TikTok audio is baked into place. TikTok's MP4s mark their AAC priming in an edit list. Players that ignore it play about 160 ms of silence before the sound, which looks like a delay. Hopper now re-encodes only the audio after a TikTok download, so the saved file stays in sync in any gallery player; the video is stream-copied and not re-encoded.
  • Instagram. Reels, /p/ video posts and IGTV links can be pasted or shared. The progressive MP4 is treated as a video-with-sound row, and the DASH streams still produce higher-quality merged options.
  • Update notices. On launch Hopper checks GitHub Releases, falls back to this site's update.json, and shows the release notes once per version. Update queues the APK with Android's DownloadManager; Later skips that version, and the next hotfix prompts again.
  • Tested across the list. YouTube, TikTok, Instagram, X, Pinterest and Dailymotion were each checked against the bundled engine; Instagram was also downloaded and merged end to end, and TikTok's saved file was inspected for the priming offset.

Android 1.4.3

Android
3 November 2026 versionCode 10 APK · about 74 MB

The update that keeps the uploader's own voice, and makes the picker easier to read.

  • Original audio wins. YouTube publishes every dub as its own audio track, and Hopper used to choose by bitrate — so a video with Dutch or German dubs could save in that language. The uploader's track is marked original by the engine; that marker now outranks bitrate for automatic picks, merged 1080p+ downloads and the automatic repair pass, while m4a stays preferred among equal tracks so a merge still lands in MP4.
  • Every audio row says which language it is. Instead of a stack of identical bitrates, the picker shows “English (US) · original” or “Deutsch”, and tints the original track in green.
  • A calmer picker. One indicator slides between the format groups on a spring, the download button animates when the selection changes, and the home screen now leads with three steps — paste or share, pick a format, find it in Hopper folders — instead of starting with folder paths.
  • Smaller touches. The send button springs into its green state as soon as a link is present, and the status line under the wordmark cross-fades when a download starts or finishes.

Android 1.4.2

Android
30 October 2026 versionCode 9 APK · about 74 MB

The update where a download's sound has to prove it belongs with its picture.

  • Sync is checked before anything is saved. Hopper reads the start time and length of the audio and video tracks in the file it just produced. If the two do not line up within 200 ms, the file is not saved.
  • One repair, then an honest failure. A file that fails the check gets a single repair pass with the best video and the best audio stream, and the replacement is checked again. If it is still out of step, the download stops with a clear message and nothing is written to your gallery — no video that plays a second behind its sound.
  • The share sheet is one dark surface. Its status and navigation bars now match the sheet under both 3-button and gesture navigation, with light icons on a dark bar. The main app's bars are unchanged.
  • Audio saves get audio names. A song taken from a .mp4 stream used to land as Title (128 kbps).mp4.m4a. It now saves as Title (128 kbps).m4a.
  • The saved card matches the file. When Android renames a file to avoid a collision — (1), (5) — the saved card and the notification now show that name instead of the one Hopper asked for.
  • X keeps the file it already had. Progressive MP4s from X carry both tracks and are already in sync, so they are saved as they arrived instead of being rebuilt through a merge that could knock them out of step.
  • Quality labels use real dimensions. A vertical 720×1280 clip is 720p, not 1280p. X's HLS rows fill in a missing size from the video's own info, and a 1080×1920 Pinterest pin is labelled 1080p.
What “200 ms” means

Two tracks in a healthy file never share exactly the same timestamp: encoder priming and container padding move one of them by a few tens of milliseconds, and those files play in sync. Two hundred milliseconds — about a fifth of a second — is the point where a merge has actually gone wrong rather than been rounded. Files inside it save normally. A file outside it is treated as a bad download, gets its one repair, and then fails instead of being published as a success.

Earlier releases

How we got here.

The Android app and the desktop extension are versioned separately. These are the Android releases before 1.5.0.

1.4.3Original audio wins: YouTube's uploader track is preferred over louder dubs for automatic, merged and repair picks, every audio row names its language, and the picker gained a sliding tab indicator, an animated action button and a clearer three-step home screen.
1.4.2A download that should carry sound is measured before it is saved: audio and video must line up within 200 ms, a bad merge gets one repair, and a file still out of step fails instead of landing in the gallery. The share sheet's bars became one dark surface, audio saves got audio names, and X's progressive MP4s are kept as they arrived.
1.4.1About gains tap-through rows for this site and for “Made by DHIADEV”, both opening in your browser with a message if no app can handle the link.
1.4.0Black-and-green interface, Pinterest video pins (including pin.it short links) and Dailymotion videos (including dai.ly). Pinterest's direct MP4 rows carry no codec fields, so they are inferred as video-with-sound; an image pin now gets a specific sentence instead of a generic failure.
1.3.1The engine version check survives the zipapp's shebang, so an update is no longer reported as applied while the old engine stays on disk. Settings shows the engine version actually stored and a Repair engine action.
1.3.0The engine is current again: updates are written to the path the library actually executes, the APK bundles yt-dlp 2026.10.26, and an existing install is upgraded on the next app start without a network request.
